Whenever Israel goes on the warpath one has to wonder if anything of value can be added to the discussion. With the current bogeyman of terrorism and the tendency of people to cry ‘anti-semetic’ every time someone dares to query the ever questionable actions of Israel. Nevertheless, when one sees the destruction of infrastructure and lack of interest by Israel in the civilian casualties in the Arab world it becomes very clear why Arabs were cheering in the streets after the WTC attacks. And how can you blame them?

It’s ironic that a state created in part by terrorism is now plagued by it. And it’s appalling that spokesman are calling on the international community to enforce the UN resolutions calling for Hezbollah to disarm while they continue to ignore the violation of international law that is the occupied territories, let alone their strikes on Lebanon without a declaration of war.

At the end of the day, one man’s terrorist is another’s freedom fighter. And until we in the West, particularly the US, stop treating Palestinian lives as less valuable than those of Israelis who can say how far this will escalate?
