Given the presence of a long weekend and Polly being tird up with work for the majority of it I was left with little choice but to give in to the little demons egging me on and install BootCamp on my MacBook Pro.
This was silly for a couple of reasons. Firstly, BootCamp is beta. And [...]

BootCamp bites back
A wee surprise from Apple
My MacBook Pro arrived Monday. Apart from the nasty feeling that comes of ordering just before they knock the speed up a notch (Apple did give me a token refund back, albeit only token as they don’t appear to offer the price protection seen in the US and Australian stores) I did find an interesting [...]
Hosting, accursed hosting!
Previously infernal.net.nz was hosted via a Lower Hutt based company, KiwiWebHost. And they were very good – good pricing, quick to respond to support, no hassles whatsoever.
However, a few days ago I received an e-mail informing me my monthly bandwidth had reached 80% of its limit. By the time I could log in (CPanel uses [...]
Still waiting…
I am seriously unimpressed with the Apple Store’s shipping process. It took from the 13th to the 17th from my order to travel from Shanghai to the Netherlands, and now it seems to have stopped. UPS seem to have picked it up as of 20:00 on the 18th, but there’s been no movement today.
One wonders [...]
Oh bugger
Suddenly my bandwidth usage has gone crazy. So my Tube map and Calendar Control are down for the present… (e.g. until June – sorry).
Further investigation seems to place the blame on some search bots operating at inktomisearch.com. They’ve eaten *huge* amounts of bandwidth – do these people not realise that others pay for bandwidth? Tits, [...]

Isn’t it always the way?
So, having ordered my MacBook Pro on Friday, today Apple have dropped the price by £80 and upped the processor speed to 2.16Ghz. Meanwhile, my new toy is still floating between here and Shanghai somewhere. Bugger.
All is not lost, however. I called the Apple Store and they said I had two choices: 1, to send [...]
Core Duo goodness
Well, I’ve given in. I’ve ordered a MacBook Pro (2.0Ghz) and will hopefully have it in my hands sometime this week. Just after the weekend…
They have a free finance offer at present and, given the money is better in my account than theirs, I called up to ask about it. I had little luck, given [...]
An eventful week
Well, it’s been a busy week.
I’ve been unhappy with my current role for a while. While my employer has a excellent work environment, and has always treated me very well, we’re trying to build software on a framework which should never have seen the light of day. And since there’s upper-management buy-in to this framework [...]
