It’s funny. I’m living in the financial capital of Europe, possibly even of the world. Yet we still have a bunch of throw-backs, the RMT union, who control the Tube, life-blood of the city. Yes, having already caused days of pain when they went on strike due to their inability to stay on the right side of red signals, they’re set to cause New Year’s misery when they strike on January 31st (as well as Monday the 9th of January when we’re all back at work).

We have a bunch of tits who get paid 30k to go forward and back (honestly, bus drivers have to worry about busy London roads and get a fraction of this, poor buggers) and they strike at the drop of a hat. This time because LU is moving some staff from the ticket office (as all the regulars have Oyster cards now) into other roles, while giving them 35 hour weeks at the same time. Oh, the humanity.

Why do they get away with it? Because the loss of the Tube disrupts three million passengers a day, forcing them to find other routes and overcrowding already packed buses and trains. In short, blackmail.

So, next time you wonder why it costs so much to travel on the Tube, you know who to blame.
