Well, we’re now living in London. Oval, in fact. So (as I found out this afternoon) whenever there’s an event on at the Oval we can look forward to fighting our way through hoards of fans clogging the pavement outside the nearby pubs.

On the upside, while it’s small (1 bedroom) and has no outlook whatsoever it’s very close to transport – 2 minutes to Oval station and the Northern Line, or the Line of Misery as it was dubbed after 45 of the 90 trains were withdrawn from service as the fail-safe breaking wasn’t working, or 10 minutes to Vauxhall with it’s reassuring mix of overground and the Victoria Line – close to 3 dairies and 3 pubs as well as having a large Sainsburys within walking distance. And we’re in zone 2 so it’s only 15 minutes from home to Oxford Street.

With turns out to be very handy. Our furnished flat turned out to be part furnished and hence we’ve spent most of the last week shopping for the bits and pieces we still need. So we’ve spent a fortune but we’ve almost got a complete flat again. And today I trekked up to IKEA and picked up a computer desk and chair much cheaper than I could have bought the same in NZ. Spiffing.

Of course I’m still waiting on DSL to be connected so in the meantime there’s always free WiFi at the Apple Store. Again, but 15 minutes from home, hurrah!
