Well, we’re having lovely summer weather. On the plane back from Blenheim today I set next to a lady who was supposed to be on the Lynx, but the 5m swells in Cook Strait put an end to that. It looked hairy even from 9000 feet, and was more than a little bouncy coming in over Karori. It’s always somewhat impressive to see the conditions the Wellington pilots regularly land in, especially when you can see down the aisle and through the cockpit window.

In other news, Blenheim remains the middle of Erehwon. And I gave in and bought the late Michael King’s History of NZ. So far it’s rather good, if not as verbose as Schama’s work on Britain (surprise, surprise).
